Harald Edelstam
Gustaf Harald Edelstam, född 17 mars i Stockholm, död 16 april i Stockholm, var en svensk diplomat och ambassadör. Edelstam visade under sin diplomatiska karriär stort engagemang i kampen för de mänskliga rättigheterna och mod och civilkurage när det gällde att rädda människoliv från brutala diktaturer. Hans okonventionella arbetsmetoder som ambassadör uppskattades inte alltid av hans chefer på utrikesförvaltningen.
Edelstam är mest känd för att ha räddat livet på, och skyddat ett stort antal oppositionella efter militärkuppen i Chile Det var där han blev känd som "talets Raoul Wallenberg". Men det var efter att ha räddat hundratals norska motståndsmän och judar under andra världskriget som han fick namnet "Svarta nejlikan".
Bakgrund
Harald Edelstam föddes i den adlig familjen Edelstam och var son till kammarherre Fabian Edelstam och Hilma Dickinson, äldre bror till ambassadören Axel Edelstam samt sonson till Ernst Edelstam. Han var kursetta på Militärhögskolan Karlberg och tog juris kandidatexamen i Stockholm Edelstam blev omedelbart rekryterad till Utrikesdepartementet och första uppdraget var som attaché i Rom

Biography of Harald Edelstam
Harald Edelstam (March 17, , Stockholm - April 16, ) was a Swedish diplomat and ambassador. He gained recognition for his efforts in saving the lives of many opposition members following the military coup in Chile in Edelstam also played a significant role in rescuing resistance fighters and Jews during World War II. He was often referred to as the "second Raoul Wallenberg" and the "controversial Swedish diplomat."
Early Life and Education
Harald Edelstam was born into a noble family. His parents were chamberlain Fabian Edelstam and Hilma Dickinson. He studied at the Royal Military Academy in Karlstad and passed his first state examination in law in Following this, Edelstam obtained the position of attaché at the Swedish Foreign Ministry and was assigned to serve in Rome that same year.
