Guatemala is a country located in the Central American region.
It shares borders with Mexico to the north/northwest, with Belize to the northeast, with Honduras to the southeast, and El Salvador to the south.
It boasts two coastlines: a Pacific coastline in the southwest and a tiny patch of Caribbean coastline in the east, so apart from historically-motivated tourists, Guatemala is the perfect place for summer lovers.
It&#;s rich in culture and history stemming from Spain and the native Maya people which calls for hordes of tourists each year.
No other country has a history like that.
But apart from Maya ruins that are the main attractions of this gorgeous country (the most memorable of which are El Mirador, considered to be the cradle of Maya civilization, and Tikal), this country is rich in natural diversity and beauty.
Guatemala is popular for having a lot of volcanoes, many of them over 3, meters high.

Samtidigt så kan säkerhetsläget förändras snabbt, håll fortfarande koll på vad som sägs på Lonely Planets forum men ha lite distans till det hela. Städer som Antigua sväljer enormt mycket turister och med tanke på hur vettlöst en del beter sig är det ett under att folk inte råkar ut för mer våld och olyckor.

Visst är det rätt vackert på sina håll men det finns inte speciellt mycket spännande att göra i närområdet och själva staden kändes som ett Zapatist-nöjesfält på många sätt.

Nu sidder jeg her og er ved at planlægge min rejse ned gennem mellemamerika, og læser i den forbindelse på udenrigsministeriets hjemmeside. Omkring guatemala står der &#;Der er megen kriminalitet i Guatemala. Væbnede røverier, overfald, bortførsler, voldtægter, rovmord og tyverier – også rettet mod turister &#; er et meget stort problem overalt i Guatemala og problemet synes desværre at være tiltagende. &#;. Jeg blev lidt overrasket over at læse dette, da jeg ellers ikke har hørt om folk der har haft problemer i guatemala&#;
Hvad siger I derude? Er det for farligt at rejse til guatemala?Tror bare du skal rejse med fornuften og ikke stole på nogen! Der en del steder man skal passe på men min veninde er lige kommet hjem derfra og hun siger hvis man ved hvordan man skal rejse og man har fornuften med så sker der ingenting,men man skal jo altid passe på sig selv. Ikke gå ud når det mørkt, ikke gå skumle steder hen, ikke følge med nogen osv osv.
